Grow Bible Study: Session 1

GROW BIBLE STUDY: Use these sessions individually or in groups with family and friends in the community or in your church.

This bible study is designed to help believers at all stages grow in their faith and relationship with the LORD. This includes focusing on God and who He is and how He desires to have a relationship with us. This LOVE that He has was so important that He offered himself up in order to have a relationship with us. All of this calls us to worship Him. At the end of this study the participants should have a stronger faith in God and relationship with God. This study is designed to be completed over a four week period, one day a week.

1- GOD

Opening prayer (may be modified): Dear heavenly Father, as we proceed with this study, LORD we pray that you will enlighten us and open our eyes to your truths. God we pray that you would bless each member of this group and allow our faith and relationship with you to grow. Thank you for who you are and how you love us, help us to always focus on you and to be a light that shines for you. All of this we pray in your Holy name Jesus. Amen!

Ice Breaker- Introduce yourself and state one word that you would use to describe God.

God in all His being is so much more than we are able to describe in words. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22:13. God is the creator of all; “For My hand made all these things,Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord.” Isaiah 66:2a. He is our creator and our Father; “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1a.  He is our LORD, above ALL things who like any good Father provides what we need.  “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:19. We can always rely on God for all things, all things are in His hands. God has made provisions for us already, He is able to love and provide each one of us so personally. Another part of who God is is also a part of what He gives to us. He gave us Himself when He came down as Christ, as a baby. He also gave us His word; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1. Spending time in the word is spending time with God.

  1. What may we conclude from knowing that God is the beginning and the end?
  2. What is significant about the relationship between a Father and His children?
  3. How important is spending time in the word?
  4. Describe a time when you experienced God’s specific and personal, loving provisions?
  5. What are some ways to help you stay accountable or consistent to spending time in the word?
  6. What benefits may come from spending time in the word?

Homework: Time to spend time in the word! Choose one of the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John and be prepared to discuss at least one thing that stood out to you at the next meeting. Also, note the time that Jesus spends in prayer.

Closing Prayer (may be modified):  Dear God, please help us to remember all that you are and to realize more and more your greatness and the miraculousness of your being. LORD, help us to spend time with you in prayer and in reading your word. Thank you God that we are your family, guide us and help us to bring other people to the realization that you are their Father, just as you are ours. In Jesus’s precious name we pray. Amen!
